Cape Point
possesses one of the highest sea cliffs in the world (200 metres above the sea ). For sea, mountain and indigenous plants and animals, the day trip from Cape Town around the Peninsula to Cape Point and the Good Hope Nature Reserve is hard to beat. This area has been nominated as a World Heritage Site.
In the Cape Point Nature Reserve one can watch the indigenous plants, and wild life, including bontebok, baboon and ostrich.
Ostrich, Struthio camelus, is the largest living bird.
Chacma Baboon, Papio ursinus
The population in the Cape Peninsula is the only protected one of Chacma Baboon in Africa. At present, there are only approximately 220 baboons left in the area. Baboons are wild animals and should be treated with caution.
