Cook Island 1997

Sprinkled over more than 2 million square kilometers of the South Pacific Ocean lies the fifteen tiny Cook Islands. Rarotonga is the largest of the Cook Islands (9000 inhabitants), but covers only 67 sqkm, and is the location of the seat of government. The Cooks are flanked to the west by Tonga and Samoa to the east by Tahiti and French Polynesia, and to the north by Hawaii.
