Hong Kong
The Pearl of Orient - Hong Kong attracts worldwide interests for its extraordinary blend of oriental and occidental, of shopper's heaven and pure nature, of nostalgic and an aggressively modern society. Skyscrapers dominate Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Peninsula. With the more than 100 year old Peak Tram, and a one hour walk, you can rich the Victoria Peak, the highest mountain on Hong Kong island (552 m). The peak gives Hong Kong perhaps the most extraordinary and legendary vista of any modern city in the world. From here you have a spectacular view to Hong Kong.

The Causeway Bay shopping area is to Hong Kong what Times Sqare is to New York- vibrant, exciting, and flooded with people. It's a crossroads of the city, a major shopping and entertainment area, and home to large Japanese department stores.

The Nathan Road is Hong Kong's most famous street, a long boulevard of shops and hotels that sparkles with neon at night. In a side street in Mong Kok you can find the Ladies Market. It is the place to find inexpensive women's clothes, from lingerie to shoes. Mong Kok has long held the distinction of being one of the world's most densely populated urban area. Here was our hotel, booked by the internet, which we can recomend (Stanford Hotel, www.stanfordhongkong.com).

Temple Street Night Market opens at 2pm but really comes to life at dusk. Traffic stops, people swarm, and hundreds of little stalls appear out of nowhere. Carts bulge with goods, from casual clothing to mobile phones and watches. If you're lucky, you'll encounter impromptu Chinese street opera and fortune-tellers (photo not allowed !).
