New Zealand 1997

 in early spring !

Auckland (0.3 million), the "City of Sails", New Zealand's largest and most cosmopolitan city. Auckland has more yachts per head of population than anywhere else in the world.

Maori arts and crafts museum- experience the spirit of ancestral Maori, the pre-European lifestyle and custom.

Rotorua, Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve- just 240km from Auckland is the awesome geothermal wonderland, where mud boils, geysers blow and steam rises. Underground heat and faults in the rock from volcanic activity, combined with water allow the water, mud and steam access to the surface.

Breathtaking walk through Rain forests, the home of mystic tree ferns, Kiwis and flowers.

For a different kind of thrill, there's Southern Oceans Adventures, voted New Zealands best visitor attractions. Hungry sharks rays and moray eels swim over you, and past you- but they won't get you because you'll be standing in a giant perspex tube !

Exceedingly beautiful nature, I will come back, as soon as possible !

back to Globetrotter !
