Yangzhou

Slim West Lake lined with weeping willows and classic pavilions is one of the most beautiful sights in Yangzhou . Dating from the Tang dynasty (618-907AD), this manmade lake has often been quoted by several poets of the period. The park around the lake is landscaped as a classic Chinese style garden. There are numerous sights along the paths such as the White Dagoba Tower modeled after the one in Beijing, the Five Pavilion Bridge, built to welcome emperor Qianlong in 1757 and Xiao Jinshan, a small hill with several buildings that sits in the middle of the lake.

He Garden was designed in the 19th century. This small garden is filled with ponds, pavilions, rocks and walls inscribed with classical Chinese poetry. There are also some enchanting teahouses where visitors can rest and enjoy the beauty of the park and folk music. An interesting feature of this garden is a 430 meter covered walkway which winds through the entire complex and connects the different buildings.

Thank you, Dr. Yang (Jane), Wang, Lina (Tracy) and Zhang, Lei (Alexander Stone) for a beautiful day in Yangzhou.
